This entire city seems to worship an ape-god (Hanuman) who crashed to the earth in a big rock, bringing the magic rod with him. When checking the rock to make sure it isn't star metal, Conan and Jezmine find that Hanuman is a prisoner, and free him, giving him back his magic rod.
